The SORDINOX® process allows the following treatments to be carried out in one single step:
- SCR Denoxing without a reactor
- removal of Dioxins and Furans without an adsorber
- dust filtering with standard equipment
- neutralisation of acidic components*
- Mercury absorbtion*
SORDINOX® has been developed in conjunction with Frauenthal and has a patent pending. It can be successfully applied where traditional solutions such as SCR or SORDINOX® process are inadequate, or where a pressure drop is experienced and there is insufficient space for an SCR reactor.
Depending on the input material, any incineration process will, more or less, produce quantities of harmful substances contained in the off gases. In most cases this is caused by incomplete combustion and can be reduced by 'primary measures' (optimized combustion) to the figures set forth by legal standards.
To meet those legal standards these remaining harmful substances have to be eliminated in a waste gas cleaning plant. The required processes will depend on
- - the input material
- - the emission target figures.
The impurities which are normally contained in waste combustion gases can be divided into the following groups:
- Solids (dust, soot, metal, oxides,…)
- Acidic components (HCl, HF, SO2,…)
- Aerosoles and volatile heavy metals (SO3, Hg, Cd,…)
- Nitrous gases (NO, NO2 ...)
- Organic residuesxxx
- Doixines and furanes
As in the case of other Denoxing processes, the reduction agent is aqueous or gaseous ammonia. Due to the temperatures applied to bag house filters, the use of urea is not possible.
With the SORDINOX® system, the dust dosed NOx's react in the same way as in an SCR process.
The reality is that, depending on the chosen process, all impurities which are eliminated from the waste gas are to be found either in the wash water or in the adsorbens.

Furthermore, there is no process which meets all emission regulations without the creation of some by - products.
This new process can be operated utilising existing bag house filters and dry sorption systems. It also can be applied where normal solutions are not feasible because of cost factors or lack of available space. A series of textile filters remove the dust particles from the flow of air. Periodically and in sequence, each filter bag deflates, which shakes off the gathering dust thus presenting a constantly self cleaning filter surface.
In standard systems using dry sorption, poisons are absorbed and therefore preserved, which is unsatisfactory. In the SORDINOX® System, hydrocarbon contained in the gas is oxidised, causing the Dioxins and Furans to be destroyed at the same time.
The SORDINOX® System is a highly innovative and remarkably advanced system, which can effectively, efficiently and safely filter noxious dust particles from an exhaust system --- which simply highlights why the Seiler Company continues to be a leader in the field of environmental process engineering.
The consumption of ammonia is estimated to be
2,5 l NH4OH (25%)/kg NOx.
SORDINOX® powder consumption is approximately 15 mg/Nm³ gas, depending on the process temperature.
The following clean gas ratios can be achieved combining a dry sorption with SORDINOX®:
